Thin Wool Cloth
The 1,2 mm thick off-white cloth is made of natural wool similar to cloth found in some old instruments. The 1,5 mm thick scarlet cloth is of the same weave, except a little heavier. Use four or more layers of these cloths for the back rail or jack rail. Five layers of the white cloth or four layers of the scarlet cloth produce the same damping as our back rail cloth #1710-1715. You can also sow two layers of these cloths to white action cloth #1745 to produce similar damping. The white off-cloth is also used as moderator cloth.
