The Instrument Workshop maintains the Early Keyboard Register. Simple registration procedures are outlined below for the files listed in the following table. Since an appreciable amount of administrative time is required to keep up these files, a small registration fee is required in some instances. Instructions for remitting any applicable fees are given at the end of this file.

To register, send email with the information you typically find in the listings already online, including name, address, phone, fax, email, webpage and text not to exceed 10 lines. Additional needed information specific for each file and is outlined below. The material you supply must be in plain text embedded in the email and not in an attached file. To defray administrative costs some listings require a small fee. Changes to the address information is free. Later changes to the text are $5.00. At this time there are no annual charges. Any application for a registration deemed inappropriate may be rejected.
State whether you consider yourself a maker and/or a restorer (rebuilder) and/or technician. Include information on which instruments you make or work on (harpsichord, clavichord, fortepiano etc). For a one time fee of US$5.00 you may include up to 10 lines of text describing your business or activities.
Include the following information: instruments performed on, and area where you are willing to perform (local, states/provinces, country or countries). For a one time fee of US$5.00 you may include up to 10 lines of text describing your background and experience.
List the instruments that are for lease, and whether they are for lease short term (one month or less) or long term (more than a month). Also explain who is responsible for transportation, insurance, and tuning/maintenance. Listing may contain a maximum of 10 lines in addition to the address information. You may publish pictures with a short description for some or all of the instruments for lease at additional fees as for instrument for sale (below).
There are two types of listings, a regular listing in which the text for the listing is provided by the seller, and an appraised listing where the text is submitted by an appraiser approved by The Instrument Workshop. A separate listing must be submitted for each instrument for sale. Each listing must state the asking price and the current condition of the instrument. A picture of the instrument may be published with the listing for additional fees listed below. For the picture you may send us a glossy photo for us to scan, or send us the picture as a .jpg file attached to an email message If an appraisal is included, there is an additional charge of $10.00. This does not include the appraisal fee, which must be negotiated with the appraiser. In listing a keyboard instrument for sale, the seller agrees to the following:
Only intrnational festivals that include an exhibition of early keyboard instruments will be listed. There is no charge for this service. However, we cannot publish a lot of details, but will gladly link to a location on the internet where details are published.
If you do not already have a webpage, we can set one up for you. The address to your web page would be
http://www.fortepiano.com/yourname or
http://www.fortepiano.com/harpsichord/yourname,
whichever you prefer. The typical cost of a webpage with one picture on our server is $35 for set-up plus $25 per year with three free updates. If you have already designed a webpage, the set-up fee may be lower. Other arrangements are available. Feel free to inquire with your needs. You need to send us the text via email or as an attached file in .html format. If you send the text by mail, there is an additional $15.00 charge for typing. Send pictures as attached files in .gif or .jpg format, or mail us a glossy photo to be scanned. You may also send us, by mail, a sketch of how you would like the page to be arranged.
