Bone Sharp Tops
Bone Sharp Tops - have a nominal thickness of 1.5 mm and will finish to about 1 mm. They are cut from bleached fine grained beef bone. It is advisable to lightly sand the surface that is to be glued in order to remove any residue from the processing, otherwise the bone might pop off. Yellow carpenters glue like Titebond works well. The surface opposite the glue surface should be lightly wetted when gluing to prevent tension buildup. Apply glue to the bone top and clamp to work bench upside down.
Bone Sharp Tops
Antique Bone - At times we accumulate bone pieces of a lesser grade which are listed at special prices under “Antique Bone”. These bone pieces may have one or more of the following irregularities:
Deviation from stated thickness, which may vary from piece to piece.
Defects on one side of the bone which will not show when the piece is glued down.
Areas of coarser bone structure and pores.
Areas of “greasiness” imbedded in the bone.
