Voss Iron Wire - Low carbon steel wire of
low tensile strength without any coating. We came across this wire by accident
and had samples drawn up for several builders. We liked this wire so much that
we decided to add it to our catalog.
Diameters: 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18
Bulk coils available for this wire as well as bulk spools of about 5 lb (very
limited quantity).
Rose Iron Wire - Bright low carbon steel
wire of low tensile strength. This Low carbon wire has long been the preferred
wire by many of the independent builders in the US, even though some of these
builders are beginning to switch to the iron wire listed above. It is produced
by Malcolm Rose in England.
Diameters for harpsichords: 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14
Diameters for fortepianos: 14, 16, 17, 19, 20, 22, 24
No bulk coils or bulk spools available for this wire.
Rose Brass Wire – Larger diameters. Custom
drawn brass (70% copper) by Malcolm Rose, as used in fortepianos. Also suitable
for brass strung harps.
Diameters: 28 (.70mm), 30 (.75mm), 32 (.80mm), 34 (.85mm), 36 (.90mm),
38 (.95mm), 40 (1mm)
New – Available now.
Red Brass Wire - Custom drawn red brass
(85%-90% copper) of low tensile strength, used in historic keyboard
instruments, is now also available in .014" diameter.
Diameters for harpsichords: 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26
Diameters for fortepianos: 38, 40
Key End Guides - Traditionally, the ends of key levers in clavichords
and some harpsichords were guided in the rear by bone slips (or pins) riding in
a rack. Bone and used ivory listed in the file on keyboards
can be used for this purpose. A modern substitute that works particularly well
is Teflon. It is extremely smooth and creates the least rubbing noise of all the
materials mentioned. We offer 1/16" thick Teflon, 3"x5" (75 x
175 mm) or equivalent, for this purpose.
Knurled Bottom Adjustment Screw - Knurled brass screw for use as bottom
adjustment screw for jacks. The threaded stem is 2x14 mm
(.080"x9/16"), the knurled head has diameter 4 mm (.159") and is
2,5 mm (.099") high.

Natural delrin sheet, as well as black delrin and celcon material in sheet form. plectra for details.
Celcon material and plectra are now available in several thicknesses. There has been a lot of hype for this variant of delrin. But before you jump, see the comments in the file on plectra, where you will also find the celcon listings.
Pins of Diameter 0.072" - Pins with the catalog numbers 1360 through 1365 are now available with one pointed on end. These are listed in the file on pins. The older style with blunt ends is also still available.
Old Style Tuning Pins
Black Fortepiano Tuning Pins - A flathead, black, lightly threaded tuning pin with hole, of diameter 6.5 mm (.256") and length 52 mm (2"), with a bull nose tip. These are listed in the file on pins.
Black Tapered Tuning Pins with Hole - A flathead, black tuning pin of diameter 4 mm (.157") and length 52 mm (2") and a pronounced tape, with bull nose tip. These are listed in the file on pins.
Wrest Pins - We have some old style wrest pins (#1344/5 and #1346/7) that culled out because they did not meet specifications. These are on sale.
Scalpel Handle and Blades
Plastic Scalpel Handle #8030 - This plastic scalpel handle takes the same blades as our metal handle #8031. It is a lot less expensive and will hold up well under light duty cutting like in voicing.
Stiff Backed Blade #11 - This stainless steel blade (catalog #80321) has a reinforced back, which makes it more rigid and less likely to break, but not as flexible as the high carbon blades 8032.
See under voicing in the tool pages.
