Piano String Looper

This tool allows you to make a beautiful double helix loop at the end of a string (top in picture at right), and finish off with tight wraps at the end of the loop (bottom in picture at right), all in one operation. There is a crank on one end of the tool to form the loop, and two spring loaded leather padded clamps on the opposite end to hold the wire. One of the clamps is stationary, the other pivots to make the wraps at the end of the helix. A locator pin in-between determines the length of the double helix. Initially the two clamps are positioned next to each other to form the double helix. Then the pivoting clamp is slowly rotated to form the wrap at the end of the helix. With the proper tension on the clamp, the wire will twist in the clamp (avoiding a twist in the wire) and just enough wire will slip through the clamp to form the helix.

Capacity (double helix only): up to .040” brass wire, to .032 iron wire, to .024” music/piano wire.

Capacity (double helix with wrap): up to .026” brass wire, to .018” iron wire, to .014” music/piano wire.
