Giant Calipers
8171/3/7 These Giant Calipers have a maple frame with a dial indicator mounted at the opening to the throat to measure the thickness of a soundboard and similar applications. The construction allows to one to measure behind ribs and bridges, if the throat depth permits. The hand held model has a throat depth of 9. The bench mounted model has a throat depth of 16. If it is used hand held, it distorts the measurement due to the weight of the tool. However, in the convertible model a brace can be screwed on to limit the throat depth to 9 and stiffening the frame. The caliper frames are available separately for use with your own dial indicator.
Hand Held Giant Caliper
(bench mounted model is similar, but with deeper throat and stand)
8175 Dial Indicator used in our Giant Calipers, 0-1 in .001 increments
8176 Dial Indicator Base with magnetic base. When the dial indicator is mounted in the stand it can be used to measure blade run outs on table saws, blade alignment on jointers, etc.
