Key Mortise/Plectra Punches
This punch is designed for punching mortises in key levers to provide clearance for the balance pins. The punch is equipped with a chamfered pilot that will guide the punch along a predrilled hole slightly narrower than the balance pin. The 3/4 long triangular blade creates the mortise. The 5/16 diameter punch creates enough clearance for most keyboards. If the key dip is more than the usual, the 3/8 diameter punch should be used.
