Tinned Low Tensile Wire
Tinned Low Tensile Wire - Tinned low carbon steel wire of low tensile strength, often referred to as Zuckermann Wire or Harpsichord Wire, used in historic keyboard instruments.
Diameters: .008 (0.20mm), .009 (0.23mm), .010 (0.25mm), .011 (0.28mm), .012 (0.30mm), .013 (0.33mm), .014 (0.35mm), .016 (0.40mm), .018 (0.45mm), .020 (0.51mm), .024 (0.61mm)
No bulk coils available for this wire in diameters 08 through 14, but bulk spools (priced per lb) ranging in weight from 5 to 10 lb, priced per lb.
Tensile Strength: depending on diameter, minimal specifications (actual numbers may be up to 30,000 PSI higher): 200,000 PSI (14060 kg/sq cm) (.008"), 180,000 PSI (12650 kg/sq cm) (.009" - .014"), 160,000 PSI (11250 kg/sp cm) (.016" -. 018"), 140,000 PSI (9845 kg/sq cm) (.020" - .024")
Maximum recommended scaling is 14 (36cm) for c at a pitch of A415, and up to 13.5 (34cm) at A440
